Our Weekend

I thought I'd post a few pictures...it's been a while. Nothing too exciting, but an update none the less. We had a nice Valentines Day last weekend, even though the rainy weather spoiled my plans :( We stayed at home instead, and still felt just as much love. When we woke up, I gave Skylee and Ryan their Valentines gifts from me and we ate breakfast. Then Skylee and I made Valentines Day pink cupcakes and I made an extra special cake just for Ryan and I in a heart-shaped pan. We planned on going to the park for a picnic that afternoon after Skylee's nap, but the rain just wouldn't go away, and Ryan had to go to a church meeting at 5:00...who planned that one? Men? Anyways, once he got home I had a nice dinner made family time. The night before we actually went out on a REAL date, hired a babysitter and all! That hadn't happened for a YEAR! We did the typical dinner and movie thing and saw "Taken", I really didn't know what it was about, but Ryan wanted to see it. It was actually pretty good, I enjoyed it.  Skylee had a runny nose all Valentines Day and by about 10pm she had woken up and wasn't feeling so well.  I made up a little bed in my room to keep an eye on her all night and after some medicine and a little midnight snack she went back to bed.  We had our stake conference on Sunday and I could tell she wasn't doing well, she wasn't being loud at church...she was actually sitting on our laps, putting her head on our chest and wanted to be held! She never ran a fever, her poor little body was just fighting some kind of bug off. She's doing much better now though. Unfortunately, she gave a little bit of that to me. I thought moms were supposed to be immune?  Thought I'd just give a quick little update and share a few pictures.

I found Skylee in her room playing like this...without underwear!

My Valentines flowers from Ryan

Funny Bug

I haven't posted much about Skylee lately. When I first started this blog a year ago, it was ALL about Skylee, but I've learned that you can post about anything, not just kids :) Skylee is growing up so fast. She speaks really well for her age, and has A LOT of sass! A few funny things that have happened lately:

Conversation in the car:

S: Mom, I'm gunna die
B: You're WHAT? What did you say?
S: I'm gunna die, mom
B: You're going to die?
S: Yeah
B: Why are you going to die Skylee?
S: Cuz I need a blanky.

*How she even knew the word die? I have no idea, but it shocked me to have this little conversation with her!

Another conversation in the car:

B: Skylee...are you going to be a big sister?
S: Yeah!
R: What's you're little brother's name going to be when he comes?
S: Lucifer!

* Ryan and I still laugh about this one all the time, hopefully our little guy won't live up to the name Skylee has given him!

A couple nights ago I was sitting down at our coffee table, don't remember what I was doing, but I was down at Skylee's level. She was being sassy as usual, and I asked her to be a nice girl, not a sassy girl. She fires back at me "I will be a sassy girl...UNDERSTAND....ME...MOM?" I tried SOOO hard not to laugh. I just couldn't believe what was coming out of her mouth. Sadly I can't wonder where she gets it, I use that "do you understand me?" line, and apparently she thinks it's pretty effective.

She thinks she's pretty funny when she says "EXCUSE ME!"(super sassy, with her little head going back and fourth) but Ryan and I don't think it's cute, so we tell her "that is too sassy" and ask her to be a nice girl. She always tells me to "be a sassy girl mom" "say it like a sassy girl". What kind of little monster have we created? She gets that phrase from me too, when I don't like what she's doing I say "excuse me..." I'm not sassy about it though, she get's that on her own.

Getting out of bed in the morning is not my favorite time of day. When Skylee wakes up, I usually just bring her back into bed with me, and turn on a cartoon so I can rest just a little longer. The other morning while we were in bed she told me she was hungry...I told her "when Little Einsteins is over, I'll get up and we'll go eat breakfast" she suprisingly was fine with my response. So she slides off my bed, walks up to the t.v. and turns it off! "It's over Mom! Let's go eat some breakfast!" I thought that was pretty cleaver, so I had to get out!

She is doing really well with her potty training these days, she's been telling me all by herself when she needs to go. We even took her to church on Sunday wearing her big girl underwear...and no problems!

She is a very compassionate little person, whenever she finds out someone is sad or sick, she'll ask me about them all the time to make sure they're okay.

Skylee is accepting that being a big girl is a good thing now! We've said goodbye to her pacifier, worked on potty training, and becoming a big sister are all great strides for her acceptance! I'm so proud of her, she's my little buddy, we go everywhere and do everything together. She's the sweetest little thing...yes, with a bit of a two year old attitude, but she also loves to cuddle, hug and shower us with kisses! She has a big vocabulary, so she keeps us laughing all the time with the things she comes up with, it's still shocking though even as well as we know her! Little people are so funny! I just can't wait until our little boy comes along, to see how sweet she is with him. I know she's going to be a great big sister! I love my Skylee-bug!

Our 3rd Wedding Anniversary

Ryan and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary yesterday! I wanted to do something nice, but simple, so while he was at work I wrote on post-it notes memories, special dates in our relationship, compliments, I love yous, reasons why I love him, and anything else that I could think of that reminded me of him and plastered them all around the house. I ordered his gift online last week and was hoping it would make it here, but it never came in time :( He has lost a couple of wedding bands since he has to remove it everytime he goes out on the boat, and for the past couple months he's been walking around like a single man! So...naturally, I got him a new one! When he got home from work, I had lunch made (yes, he gets home early) he saw all the notes posted all over the house, a card and a box of chocolates. I tried to get someone to watch Skylee so we could go out by ourselves for dinner, but it was mutual night at church (all the young women were taken) and I procrastinated with my other options...so we took her out with us. It wasn't the most romantic anniversary date with our little jabber-mouth along, but we did enjoy our evening. While we were at dinner, he pulled out a little box with a beautiful ring inside! The ring he got for me has three pink gemstones, set in white gold, and it looks great next to my wedding rings! Even though it was our 3rd, it was the 1st we've been together for! Having a wedding anniversary so close to Valentines Day does make it a little interesting...they are kinda the same reason for celebrating, and I'm only so creative! I really consider myself very blessed to have a good marriage, even 3 years in, so many marriages don't last even that long many times these days. Ryan is a great husband and father, and I can't wait for other adventures and memories we'll share in the future!

Finally!

I know this kind of stuff may be silly to share on my blog, but winning this one took some work. I got the baby bedding easily, I was the only bidder. This pink and brown polka dot bedding has been a hotter item though. Just like the crib bedding, I had been keeping my eye on Skylee's bedding too, to see how much it normally sold for. I have been on eBay every night trying to win this thing all week, and EVERYTIME I get out bid at the last second...literally, and it's been driving me crazy! FINALLY tonight with 28 seconds left I logged on and I swooped in and got this for another great deal! Apparently the bidders today were trying to keep it pretty low, but it was still $20 dollars cheaper than what it has been consistantly going for, so I WIN! Hopefully these two sets will look cute in the kids room together, since they'll be sharing a room. It was really tricky to find coordinating crib bedding and twin bedding for a boy and a girl, so I'm proud of myself for being so patient! I got the blue crib bedding in the mail today, and it's so cute! I can't wait to put the room all together for my munchkins!

Why Am I So Lazy These Days?

Since we just moved into our new place last week, I still have yet to unpack everything and organize my home. Usually I have enough energy to knock it out within a couple days, but I'm exhausted lately! Maybe it's because I'm  7 1/2 months pregnant and my body is feelin it, or maybe I'm just lazy and don't care right now? I know it needs to be done, but for some reason that's not enough motivation for me to actually do something about it! I've got my kitchen done, and my bedroom but everywhere else still needs some help! Books aren't in the bookshelf, clothes aren't hanging perfectly in the closets, decor isn't hanging from the walls, bathrooms aren't in order, and boxes are still everywhere it seems! I guess I have the luxury of doing this slowly with only one child, but since I'm only about 8 weeks away from having another, and family coming to town, I really ought to get a move on! I always feel better about my laziness when I think of my poor sister Jennette, whose pregnant with her 4th and has to move from TX to CA soon after baby Seth arrives! Getting a house ready to sell, selling a house, packing a large family up, all the moving details, and all while her hubby is working away all the time. There is always someone else who has it worse! She can't be lazy like me, she has so much to do! I wonder how she does it all when I know she's feeling more tired and worn out than I am with all she does! Jennette, I am amazed how strong you are, I wish we lived closer so I could lighten your burden just a little bit and help out! I think I'm still recovering from the move itself, and regaining my energy back is taking a little longer than anticipated. I thought moving within the same town would be "an easy move" but I don't believe those exist! I know I'm kinda rambling here, but the last point I'll make is...I'll get pictures up when I finish, until then I'm taking my time.

eBay Success!

I'm excited...I just won the bidding on this 9 piece bedding set for the little guy. I found it a while back and decided I'd just keep an eye on it to see how much it normally sold for. I was the only bidder so I got it for $49.99! I'm just waiting to see if I win Skylee's coordinating bedding this evening, right now I'm winning!
