Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge
The week before last we took a little trip out to Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge here in southern Georgia. It's a big swamp with lots of aligators, turtles, and birds among others. Since we moved here we've heard a lot about it, so we made the time to get out there. I don't think there are many places like it, it's pretty unique. We took a guided boat tour of the swamp and marshes looking for aligators! We saw 15-20 gators that day! It's one thing in the zoo, but a completely different feeling when they're in the wild like that! I have to admitt, I was a little freaked out by the whole thing. Skylee enjoyed looking for the aligators on our tour, and she thought the boat ride was pretty fun too! Our tour guide was one interesting man, he had lots to say, and it sounds like he's done everything in the book, putting Steve Irwin to shame. We had a great family outting!
